We will introduce VAR in our football – Kurt Okraku

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, addressed the press in Sunyani on Friday, August 9, 2024.

In his address, he revealed a significant development that is set to transform the landscape of Ghanaian football. Okraku confidently announced that the implementation of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology would soon become a reality for the nation’s football leagues.

“We will introduce VAR to our football,” stated Kurt Okraku, highlighting the GFA’s commitment to embracing technological advancements in the sport.

He further elaborated that the introduction of VAR is a key component of the GFA’s broader strategy aimed at elevating the standards of refereeing in the country.

He emphasized that the initial phase of this implementation would start with the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

Football enthusiasts and stakeholders in Ghana will be closely watching how the integration of VAR influences the dynamics of the game and the performance of referees. The initiative reflects the GFA’s proactive approach in addressing the challenges faced in officiating and its dedication to the continuous improvement of the sport.
