At least two people have so far turned down the offer to be the running mate of National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2020 Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, according to a report by the New Publisher Newspaper.

The Newspaper claims in its Friday, 2nd August, 2019 edition that at least two people that the former President has approached for the position have turned down his offer.

The two, the paper claimed are Alex Mould and Alhassan Andani.

According to the Newspaper’s report, the two did not offer any specific reasons for turning down the offer.

The choice of a partner for the former President who is staging a comeback has been an issue of concern for the main opposition party.

Pollster, Ben Ephson claimed recently that Alex Mould who is a former Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and Kingsley Kwame Awuah-Darko, a former Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST) Limited have emerged as forerunners for the position.

Per a research conducted by Ephson, these two replaced senior figures, Kwesi Ahwoi and Kwesi Botchway in a long-list of candidates that was whittled down to just five in the last four months.

“The last list that we did in February featured Kwesi Botchway and Kwesi Ahwoi. Between now and then the two seems to have dropped from the list and they’ve been replaced by Alex Mould and Awuah Darko,” he said.

The pendulum swings on five favourites in the latest polls conducted by Ephson, including Chief of Staff in the erstwhile Mahama administration, Julius Debrah, former Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST) Limited, and Kingsley Kwame Awuah-Darko, Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Alex Mould.

The rest are former Energy Minister, Kofi Armah Buah and Oppong-Fosu who are all from the Southern belt and Akans.
