Watch the Asiedu Nketia speech at Manyhia that got Asantehene clapping

The National Democratic Congress introduced the running mate of John Mahama to the Asantehene on Wednesday August 26, 2020.

During the introduction of running mate Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Johnson Asiedu Nketia gave a powerful speech on why the party chose a female running mate.

According to Asiedu Nketia, the chose a woman because they’ve realized the western style of government isn’t helping the country to progress fast.

He explained that a woman as Vice President to a male President will be mirroring the traditional Ghanaian leadership where there is a King/Chief and a Queenmother.

In the traditional Ghanaian setting, when the king or Chief finds it difficult to decide on a thing, they consult the old woman who happens to be the Queenmother for knowledge.

Aseidu Nketia added that an all male President and Vice doesn’t seem right because even in the country, there are more female and male so a woman as Vice President is ideal.

The overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu started clapping even before Asiedu Nketia would finish Witt his speech.
