Watch how boxing lovers welcomed John Laryea at the Kotoka International Airport

Scores of boxing lovers in the country were at the airport to welcome Ghanaian boxer John Laryea, who was arriving home from the United States of America.

On Saturday, November 2, 2024, John Laryea defeated Nicaraguan fighter Alexander Mejia in his debut international match.

Known as ‘The Expensive Boxer’, Laryea secured a victory by unanimous decision at Caribe Royale Orlando in the United States.

Laryea, who had not fought since December 2023, dominated the match from the start, even knocking down his opponent in the first round.

He maintained his strong performance throughout the fight, landing solid punches and preventing Mejia from gaining any advantage.

Based in James Town, Laryea now boasts a remarkable professional record of 15 fights, winning 14 with 11 by knockout and 1 draw.

He arrived in the country on Saturday, November 9, 2024, and some boxing fans thronged the airport to welcome him.
