Osaberima Atta Appeakrong Agyei II, Chief of Akyem Anyinasin in the Abuakwa North constituency in the Eastern Region, ordered the burning of two excavators to stop illegal mining activities in the area.
In a post shared on X by SIKAOFFICIAL, it noted that the excavators belonged to illegal miners operating in the area.
In the viral video, Osaberima Atta Appeakrong is captured furiously saying, “President Akufo-Addo, who hails from Akyem, risked his leadership in the fight against galamsey due to the deplorable nature of our lands and water bodies as a result of illegal mining. Osagyefo, who also doubles as an environmentalist, hates these activities.”
“I am the firstborn of Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin at Anyinasin. What Okyehene dislikes, I dislike as well. What President Akufo-Addo dislikes, I also dislike. What Otumfuo, the Ashanti King, dislikes, I dislike. What the chief of Bono Ahafo dislikes, I also dislike.
“What the residents of Anyinasin dislike, I dislike. I have warned the illegal miner in Anyinasin three times to stop. I stand in my power as a chief who is a representative of Okyehene, President Akufo-Addo, for Ghana, and Daasebre Twum Ampofo, who, together with his elders, supported me.
“I order you to burn the excavators,” the chief said as he was surrounded by people believed to be residents of Anyinasin.
