Former Black Stars midfielder, Sulley Muntari, celebrates his birthday as he turns 40 years old today, August 27, 2024.

Sulley Muntari is a very revered figure in the history of the Black Stars, as he had a distinctive quality and stood out whenever he donned the national colours.

Muntari is characterised as a dedicated, tireless, fearless, and powerful player who gives his everything during matches. He had an astonishing passing and shooting range, which were the catalysts of his playing style.

The former AC Milan player spent 12 years of his professional football career with the Black Stars, making his debut in 2002.

He made 84 appearances, scoring 20 goals, with many of those goals coming from long-range efforts, his trademark.

Sulley Muntari is one of Ghana’s most decorated players ever, winning the UEFA Champions League, a couple of Serie A titles, the FIFA Club World Cup, and a few other honours.

He is also the only Ghanaian player to win the European treble.
