In a video shared by JoySports on X, on October 9, 2024, the coach, clad in his sporting outfit, was with other officials of the technical team as they stared at the pitch and made a couple of touches to ensure that it was in a good state.
The development comes after major concerns about the state of the pitches in Ghana, which took a ban by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the sporting authorities to renovate it to be approved for the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
Kwasi Appiah, following a caution from CAF, resigned from his role as Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), citing conflict of interest.
The coach has been at the centre of criticism from some sports personalities who believe it was not ideal for Appiah to hold two roles simultaneously, which could negatively impact his coaching job.
The Black Stars’ doubleheader against Sudan will have a major impact on Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON after failing to win their first two games.
Ghana occupy the third position with one point in Group F of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers after two matches.
