Violence at Kintampo; One feared dead, others injured

One person is feared dead and two others have reportedly sustained gunshot wounds in renewed violence in Kintampo in the Bono East Region.

The two who sustained gunshot wounds are reportedly receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The violence was triggered by a misunderstanding at the Kintampo Waterfall. An eyewitness, Mustapha Ganui who spoke to Starr News said police reinforcement who invaded the town shot dead the individual.

He added that residents have deserted the town for fear of being arrested or brutalized.

According to him, the violence started Monday evening after violence broke out between two groups who were bathing at the Kintampo waterfalls.

He added that a police officer present at the waterfalls attempted to arrest one of the boys but they resisted the arrest and abused the police officer.

Ganui narrates that the Police officer later called for reinforcement who started shooting indiscriminately when they arrived leading to the death of one of the boys.
