V/R: Fear grips community as 63-year-old is shot at Kpatsiklo

A 63-year-old man has been shot by unknown assailants at Kpatsiklo, a suburb of Ziope in Agotime-Ziope district of the Volta region.

The incident according to residents who say they are living in fear, happened on Sunday, May 19, 2019, as they could not fathom what might have triggered this act of barbarism.

According to the residents, the victim who has been identified as Mr. Michael Yao Vadze woke up around 5am and was heading to his farm before the attack.

Residents claim thirty minutes after he had left home, they heard someone shouting and calling for help but when they rushed to the scene, it was Michael lying in a pool of blood after being shot at by an unidentified person on his way to the farm.

It is gathered that the weapon used was a locally manufactured pistol

In an interview with MyNewsGh.com, the chief of the community, Manklalo Benjamin Vadze confirmed they have reported the case to the police at Ziope police station about 7am for which medical form is given, and the victim is currently receiving treatment at Ho Teaching Hospital.

When MyNewsGh.com contacted the Ziope police station command headed by DSP Benedicta around, she disclosed that she is unable to comment on the issue and directed the news team to the Volta Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO).

When contacted, Corporal Prince Dogbatse confirmed the incident and disclosed that his outfit is on a hunt for one Mr Midawo who the victim alleged fired at him

Our checks however reveal that the victim said to be in critical condition is on admission at the Ho Teaching Hospital while doctors are working round the clock to save his life.
