Traders, drivers at CMB lorry terminal protest against evacuation by AMA

Traders and drivers at the CMB lorry terminal in Accra, staged a demonstration on Monday to protest a planned evacuation by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, AMA, to allow for the construction of a multi-purpose complex.

The traders, during the demonstration, accused the Accra Metropolitan Assembly of illegally selling the 3-acre land to a private developer.

Though the AMA has asked traders to relocate, they told Citi News’ Kojo Agyeman that they will not heed to the AMA’s directive.

They said the AMA failed to engage them adequately, considering that they have plied their activities in the area for nearly two decades.

The CMB is close to the COCOBOD headquarters located in Accra central.

The space in question is a 3-acre land being occupied by drivers and traders.
