Teenager arrested with foreign pistol hidden in his shorts

A teenager has been arrested with a foreign made pistol by the Alpha SWAT Unit of the Ghana Police Service during their routine operations.

Emmanuel Nortey, 19 was arrested with a Leopodo RS revolver number 437303 concealed in his shorts after two of his colleague fled on seeing the police

Police disclosed to MyNewsGh.com that on their routine patrol duty within the Accra metropolis, specifically Agbogloshie, James town and Arts center areas and arriving at a spot near the Arts centre, they team spotted three young men who on seeing the police tried to hide away from them.

The team followed up on them but two managed to escape and the third was arrested.

He fiercely resisted being searched by the team and thereby drawing crowd to himself.  The team however remained resolute and conducted a body search on the suspect later identified as Emmanuel Nortey and retrieved the weapon.

The suspect is currently in police detention assisting with investigations.
