Atlético Madrid have reportedly identified Ghana international Mohammed Kudus as a potential target as the Spanish club continues to assess options to strengthen its attack.
According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Atlético are exploring the possibility of making a move for the Tottenham Hotspur forward as manager Diego Simeone looks to add more attacking firepower to his squad.
Kudus has emerged as an attractive option because of the qualities he can bring to Atlético’s attack. The Ghanaian is known for his strength, direct running and ability to operate in different attacking positions.
His work rate without the ball is another quality that could appeal to Simeone, whose teams have traditionally placed significant emphasis on defensive organisation, intensity and commitment from attacking players.
The reported interest comes as Atlético continue to assess their attacking options. The club have already made changes to their forward line, with Jonathan David joining on loan from Juventus, while uncertainty surrounding some of the club’s attacking personnel has kept the Spanish side active in the market.
Kudus, meanwhile, remains under contract with Tottenham after joining the Premier League club from West Ham United in 2025. His ability to create opportunities, carry the ball forward and contribute in the final third has made him one of Ghana’s most prominent players in European football.
The 26-year-old’s versatility could also make him useful to Simeone. Kudus has played as an attacking midfielder, winger and in more advanced roles during his career, giving a manager the flexibility to use him in different tactical systems.
Atlético’s reported interest, however, does not mean that a transfer is imminent. Reports indicate that the Madrid club is considering several attacking options, with Kudus among the players being assessed.
A potential deal could depend on Tottenham’s position and the financial requirements involved in signing the Ghanaian. Kudus only moved to Spurs in 2025, meaning Atlético would likely have to make a significant commitment if they decide to pursue the player.
For Kudus, a move to Atlético Madrid would represent another major chapter in his European career. After spells with FC Nordsjælland, Ajax, West Ham United and Tottenham, a switch to La Liga would give him the opportunity to work under one of Europe’s most experienced coaches in Simeone.
