A five-month-old baby boy has reportedly gone missing after an unidentified woman allegedly took him from the Cape Coast Bus Terminal at Asafo Market in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, September 19, 2026, leaving the child’s family distressed and appealing to the public for assistance in finding him.
The missing child has been identified as Akwasi Banahene.
According to information provided by the child’s uncle, Osei Kuffour, the baby’s mother is a food vendor who was preparing food at the market at about 5 a.m. when the incident occurred.
The baby was reportedly asleep and had been placed in front of the family’s store while his mother worked nearby.
Kuffour said an unidentified woman had been sitting close to the store before the incident. The baby’s mother reportedly briefly turned away to pick up something.
When she returned, both the baby and the woman were reportedly no longer at the location.
The woman is believed to be between 37 and 40 years old, according to information provided by the family. Her identity and whereabouts remain unknown.
The family has since reported the matter to the police and is seeking assistance from members of the public to help locate the child.
The incident has generated concern among people in the area, particularly because the baby reportedly disappeared from a busy commercial location.
The family is urging anyone who may have information about the child’s whereabouts or the unidentified woman to provide it to the police.
