Africa Magic is set to honour the life and legacy of veteran Nigerian actor Sir Olu Jacobs with a special documentary celebrating his decades-long contribution to theatre, television and film.
Titled “Doyen of Nollywood: Celebrating Olu Jacobs,” the documentary will explore the celebrated actor’s career and the influence he had on Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
The special production follows the death of Olu Jacobs on September 16, 2026, and is designed to preserve memories of his work while highlighting his contribution to the development of the Nigerian creative industry.
The documentary is directed by filmmaker Femi Odugbemi and produced by Zuri 24 Media. It brings together colleagues, actors and industry personalities who worked with or knew Jacobs, allowing them to share their memories and reflections on his career.
Among those featured are veteran actress and Jacobs’ wife Joke Silva, as well as Afolabi Adesanya, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Patience Ozokwor, Kate Henshaw and journalist and cultural commentator Jahman Anikulapo.
Their contributions are expected to provide personal perspectives on the actor’s professional journey, his approach to his craft and the impact he made on generations of performers.
Olu Jacobs built a career that stretched across several decades, earning recognition for his performances on stage and screen. His work in theatre, television and film established him as one of the prominent figures in Nigeria’s acting industry.
Beyond his individual performances, Jacobs was also recognised for his influence on the growth of the Nigerian film industry and his role in inspiring younger actors.

Africa Magic Showcase is scheduled to premiere the documentary on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 6:35 p.m. The programme will also receive repeat broadcasts on the channel on September 26, 28 and 30.
The documentary is also listed in the Africa Magic Showcase television schedule under the title “Tribute To Olu Jacobs”, with the programme scheduled for Friday, September 25 at 5:35 p.m. South African time.
The special programme comes as the Nigerian entertainment industry continues to remember a performer whose career helped shape the country’s theatre, television and film landscape.
