Court remands prophet over alleged fraud involving widow’s properties at Gomoa Nyanyano
The Ofaakor Circuit Court in the Central Region has remanded Senior Prophet Samson Seidu, founder and leader of Angelic Grace Palace at Gomoa Nyanyano, in connection with an alleged fraud case involving a widow.
The clergyman was reportedly remanded for two weeks to allow the police to continue investigations into allegations that he took custody of property documents belonging to the widow and allegedly dealt with some of the properties without her consent.
The case involves Madam Gifty Moses, a widow and single mother at Gomoa Nyanyano, who has accused the prophet of withholding documents covering properties left behind by her late husband.
According to reports, Madam Moses said she handed the documents to Senior Prophet Seidu for safekeeping while she was pregnant and preparing to give birth.
She allegedly entrusted the documents to him after he assured her that they would be kept safely and returned to her after she had delivered her baby.
However, Madam Moses claims that after her discharge, the prophet failed to return the documents despite several attempts by her to retrieve them.
She further alleges that some of the properties covered by the documents were sold without her knowledge or consent.
The properties reportedly include land and other assets belonging to the widow’s late husband and his family.
Family members of Madam Moses have also reportedly raised concerns over the alleged handling of the properties and have called for appropriate authorities to intervene.
The matter eventually came before the court following complaints concerning the documents and ownership of the properties.
Senior Prophet Seidu appeared before the Ofaakor Circuit Court and denied the allegations. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
A former administrator of the prophet’s church, Richard Toffour, has reportedly stated that Madam Moses personally handed the property documents to the clergyman.
However, Madam Moses has disputed aspects of the account surrounding what happened to the documents and properties.
The court’s decision to remand the prophet is intended to allow investigators to continue their work while the case proceeds.
The police are expected to examine the property documents, investigate the alleged transactions and establish the circumstances under which some of the properties may have changed hands.
The case has attracted attention in Gomoa Nyanyano because of the relationship between the alleged victim and the accused.
Madam Moses reportedly considered the prophet a spiritual father and trusted him with the documents during a vulnerable period.
The allegations have therefore raised questions about the need for individuals to exercise caution when entrusting valuable property documents to other persons, regardless of their relationship.
For now, the allegations against Senior Prophet Seidu remain unproven, as the case is still before the court.
The matter is expected to return to court after the remand period as investigations continue.
