Tragedy in Aboduabo: Fire Claims Life of 23-Year-Old Nursing Mother in Petrol Kiosk Blaze

A devastating fire outbreak in Aboduabo, located in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, has claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman, Sandra Danso, a nursing mother and local petrol vendor.

According to eyewitness Kwaku Acheampong, an electrician in the area, the fire ignited when petrol being sold by Sandra accidentally splashed onto an open flame near her makeshift kiosk. The resulting blaze spread rapidly, leaving her no chance of escape.

“Everything happened so fast. We tried to help, but the fire was too intense,” Acheampong recounted.

Sandra, who sold bottled petrol to motorists and residents, was reportedly alone at the time of the incident. Despite desperate efforts by community members to douse the fire, she was tragically consumed by the flames.

Her father, Elder David Boatey, shared the emotional moment he learned of the tragedy. “I was on my farm when I received the call. By the time I got to the scene, everything was gone—my daughter, the kiosk, everything,” he said, visibly shaken.

The charred remains of the young mother have since been recovered. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and to assess whether safety protocols were breached.

The incident has reignited concerns over the hazards of selling petrol in residential areas, especially in unsafe conditions, with community members calling for stricter regulations and enforcement to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
