Ghanaian dancehall musician Stonebwoy has opened up about the events that contributed to his strained relationship with fellow rapper Sarkodie, revealing details of a confrontation that occurred during preparations for the rapper’s Black Love virtual concert in 2020.
According to Stonebwoy, the incident began after he travelled from Togo to support Sarkodie’s concert despite not being in the best of health at the time.
Stonebwoy said he was kept backstage for several hours after arriving at the venue, a situation that allegedly left him frustrated and upset. His dissatisfaction reportedly led to a confrontation involving Sarkodie’s manager, Angel Town.
Speaking about the incident, Stonebwoy denied deliberately assaulting Angel Town. He maintained that any contact involving Angel Town’s eye was accidental and not an intentional attempt to cause harm.
The dancehall star further alleged that the matter escalated after a police complaint was made against him. Stonebwoy claimed that he was accused of injuring Angel Town and that additional allegations were made concerning weapons supposedly found in his possession.
Stonebwoy, however, denied the claims involving weapons and insisted that he had not gone to the event with the intention of causing trouble.
The musician said he eventually apologised publicly following the controversy, although he now appears to have mixed feelings about that decision.
Stonebwoy’s latest comments have reignited public interest in the disagreement between two of Ghana’s biggest music stars. The incident has remained a subject of discussion among fans, particularly because both artistes have enjoyed successful careers and have previously shared the stage on several occasions.
The revelations also provide more context to the tensions that reportedly developed around the Black Love concert and the relationship between their respective camps.
While Stonebwoy has now shared his side of the story, the account represents his perspective on what happened. Sarkodie and his representatives would therefore have to provide their own response for a complete picture of the events surrounding the confrontation.
The disagreement has nevertheless become one of the notable moments in Ghana’s modern music industry, given the stature of both artistes and their influence on the country’s entertainment scene.
Stonebwoy’s latest disclosure is expected to generate further debate among fans about what actually happened behind the scenes and whether the matter could have been handled differently.
