The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako has directed Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee to investigate recent rampant armed robbery attacks on mobile money vendors in the country.

According the Deputy Speaker, the Committee has to investigate causes of the attacks and proffer solutions within 3 weeks.

The directive came on the back of a statement made by Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Dr. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije on how armed robbery attacks are affecting activities of mobile money operators in the country.

According to the MP, Mobile Money Vendors across the country are living in perpetual fear due to attacks and harassment by armed robbers.

He also urged the police administration to take steps to address the situation

The Dormaa East MP, Paul Apreku Twum-Barimah in his contribution to the statement called on government to take immediate action to address the matter given the contribution of the Momo vendors to the economy

The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako who was chairing proceedings consequently directed the defence and interior committee to investigate it and report same within three weeks how to protect vendors from attacks.
