See how squatters get access to spaces underneath Circle overpass

The recent incident where a young lady was rescued by the Ghana Fire Service after she was trapped under the Circle Interchange flyover has shed light on the existence of individuals residing at the top of the columns that support the overpass.

According to eyewitness accounts, individuals have found an opening that leads directly to the top of one of the columns, allowing them to sleep there at night despite the danger it poses. Some individuals have gone to the extreme of preparing their meals there.

A video by Kofi TV, a day after the lady was rescued, showcases the access point these squatters use to get underneath the bridge.

After entering the space one can see bedding, bags, clothing, and filth scattered throughout the area.

A fire officer from the Ghana Fire Service, speaking to Kofi TV, raised concerns about how criminals use the overpass as a hiding spot and called for the opening to be barricaded to prevent any disaster.

Officials from the Fire Service rescued a young woman on Thursday, July 25, trapped inside the flyover at the Kwame Nkrumah interchange.

During the rescue operation, officials retrieved items including books, pen drives and mobile phone cases, drawing the attention of authorities to the spot.
