ROMP foundation empower women at Mampong municipality

Executives of ROMP Foundation, a non governmental organisation have laised with the Ashanti regional chapter of MASLOC to support women within Manpong Municipality with resources that will equip them financially to be able to adequately take care of their children.
The collaboration of the duo seeks to eliminate issue related to poor parenting , parental negligence and its attendant negative impact on society.
Parents through this joint initiative will be  offered financial assistance and opportunity to learn a vocation to be able to start a lucrative job of their own.
According executives of ROMP Foundation, women through this support will be made financially sound to be able to take care of their children.
This was released in a just ended Women’s Empowerment and Entrepreneurial programme organized by executives of ROMP Foundation within the municipality. It also sought to highlight the dangers of drug abuse and teenage pregnancy.
The occasion witnessed a pomp attendance of women who registered their participation to tap their share of MASLOC offer.
Speaking to  PRESS RADIO, the CEO for ROMP Foundation Hajia Zainab Fofana disclosed that the move was triggered by worrying findings gathered by the NGO  through interactions with students and parents in relation to the fallen standard of parental support as in the academic and domestic upbringing of their wards.
According to Hajia Zainab Fofana, most students during series of interactions disclosed that their indulgence in social vices stems from their parents inability to meet their financial and academic needs.
Most students she noted are compelled to engage themselves in hard labour just to generate money to fend for themselves which eventually affects their academic performance.
“Parents who opened up to speak to us also complained that they lack the financial strength to carter for the academic and domestic demands of their  children” she revealed.
The CEO for ROMP Foundation continued that because most parents fail to show up during PTA meetings, teachers are not able to report to them on the academic challenges of their wards.
Hajia Zainab Fofana, a renowned C.E.O who is also a Counselor, mentor and a coach underlined that until women and for that matter parents are empowered to make them self sufficient   to  handle the needs of their children, the fight against issues related to child prostitution, child trafficking and juvenile delinquency will still remain an uphill task.
 Child Prostitution
Most children and students due to lack of parental support are pushed  into child prostitution because they don’t have  genuine opportunities of making a living.
Sadly, most of them after getting addicted are unable to quit no matter how hard one tries to assist them” she indicated, adding that there are others too who are ready to  stop prostitution if given an assistance.
Hajia Zainab announced that her organisation is warming up to reach out to children engaged child prostitution within and beyond the municipality as part of their objectives.
ROMP Foundation which is an acronym name of Reaching Our Maximum Potential since two years of its formation has been able to reach out to many schools within Manpong municipality through the organisation of quiz events, donation of books, mathematical sets, pencils among other stationeries running into over thousands of Ghana cedis.
During the ocassion, Mr. Slid Adapaa, a senior psychiatrist of Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital called on parents to resist all factors that will influence their children’s engagement in drug abuse.
