Robbers attack cocoa depot at Fomena; bolt with over GH₵1 million

Suspected armed robbers have attacked a cocoa depot at Fomena in the Ashanti Region, making off with over GH₵1 million, MyNewsGh.com reports.

The bandits also stole mobile phones and shot at the vehicle of the depot manager before fleeing the scene.

According to MyNewsGh.com, the robbery occurred on Thursday evening at approximately 6:20 PM.

The masked robbers, numbering four and armed with AK-47 assault rifles, stormed the Agro Ecom Company Limited Cocoa Depot at Adansi Ansah.

They reportedly shot at a GMC Terrain 2 vehicle, registration number GS 9576-22, which belonged to the District Officer.

Police were immediately notified about the ongoing robbery. However, before they arrived at the scene, the robbers had escaped into a nearby bush with their loot, leaving no trace of their whereabouts.

A combined team of police personnel from New Edubiasi and Adansi Fomena has launched a manhunt for the suspects, who are believed to be hiding in neighboring communities.
