REVEALED: Nana Akua Addo’s husband responds to alleged assault claims

Harold Duodu Norman, husband of Ghanaian actress and fashion personality Nana Akua Addo, has denied allegations that he physically assaulted his wife.

Norman’s legal team issued a response after videos and photographs involving Nana Akua Addo began circulating on social media, with claims that the material showed the aftermath of an alleged domestic violence incident.

According to Norman’s lawyers, the injury visible in the circulating material did not result from a recent assault. They said it dates back to an incident in 2021, which they described as having been brought back into the public domain amid ongoing legal proceedings involving the couple.

The lawyers provided their client’s account of the 2021 incident, claiming that a disagreement arose after Norman returned from an event and Nana Akua Addo confronted him over alleged infidelity.

They alleged that during the confrontation, Nana Akua Addo attempted to attack Norman with a knife. According to the legal team, Norman used a dressing mirror to protect himself, after which the mirror broke and a piece of it caused an injury to Nana Akua Addo’s lip.

Norman’s lawyers consequently rejected suggestions that their client deliberately assaulted his wife. They further claimed that he took her to hospital for treatment following the incident.

The legal team said the matter is connected to proceedings before the Ghana Police Service’s Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), as well as a civil case involving the couple.

They urged media organisations and members of the public to exercise caution when discussing the allegations, arguing that the material circulating online does not provide the full context of the dispute.

The lawyers also made additional allegations concerning previous disagreements within the marriage. Those claims have not been independently established and remain part of the competing accounts surrounding the dispute.

Nana Akua Addo has also addressed the circulation of the videos through her lawyers.

In a statement issued on October 6, she said the videos were leaked without her knowledge or consent. Her legal representatives appealed to media organisations and members of the public not to publish, reproduce or share the footage, particularly material involving a minor.

They said the family is dealing with a sensitive matter and asked that the privacy and wellbeing of the children be respected. Nana Akua Addo also indicated that the matter is before the appropriate authorities and urged the public to allow the relevant legal processes to continue.

The conflicting accounts have generated significant discussion on social media, but the full circumstances surrounding the dispute remain subject to the ongoing legal and investigative processes.

For now, allegations made by either side should not be treated as established facts until they are determined through the appropriate authorities and courts.
