Replace Burnt Motorbikes in Two Weeks – Kasoa NDC to Hawa Koomson

The National Democratic Congress Leaders in the Awutu Senya East Constituency (Kasoa) have ordered for an immediate replacement of all the burnt motors during Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson’s saga which occurred at the registration of the Voter’s ID at the Step to Christ Registration Center in Kasoa.

According to the opposition party in the constituency, the Inspector General of Police must act on it and demand that the Minister does the needful since she was the cause of the incident which occurred.

The Constituency Secretary of the Party, Amadu Tuariq, explained that the motorbikes serve as a source of income for the young men thus the need for its replacement.

“The incident happened because of Mavis Hawa since she sent the boys to the registration center so we are demanding that she replace the burnt motorbikes for the young guys because that is what also gives them money”, he added.

He complained that the issue has been overlooked since it happened some months ago yet nothing has been done to help the young guys.

“The incident happened about three months ago yet no one is talking about it so the IGP must do something now so Hawa Koomson can perform what is expected of her”, he said.

Speaking to Bryt FM Reporter, Eric Owusu Amponsah, on the issue, an eye witness and a victim of the saga, Paul Obaku, also narrated what happened to him during the registration since he also went there with a motorbike.

According to him, he accompanied a friend to the registration center as a guarantor but got sprayed and attacked by Hawa Koomson’s boys who later destroyed his motorbike.

“I left home to guarantee for a friend who was registering for his Voter ID and whilst the registration was ongoing the Minister arrived at the centre with some boys. The boys were manhandling my motor and I inquired why they were doing that, but one of them sprayed pepper on me twice and I had to run for my life. I later saw that they were destroying all the motors around, I lost my motor and my phone that day”, he recounted.

He also said that after the incident he hasn’t been able to find a job and has been stranded since the motorbike was his only source of income.

“Right now I’m stranded because there is no work here and the motorbike to hasn’t been replaced”, he added.
