A video involving TikToker Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as “Ghana Jollof,” has surfaced after the Ghana Police Service declared her wanted over alleged online activities.
The 40-year-old social media personality was declared wanted by the Police in connection with an alleged case involving incitement to violence. Police intelligence has identified her as the person behind the “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account, according to a statement from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
The Police said Kodua is believed to be in the United Kingdom and appealed to members of the public with information about her whereabouts to contact the authorities.
The development follows investigations into videos published through the “Ghana Jollof” account. According to the CID, some of the content under investigation allegedly contained offensive and inflammatory statements and information that investigators believe could cause fear, alarm or violence.
One of the videos mentioned by the Police involved an allegation of a near coup at the Jubilee House. The Police described the claim as false and said it formed part of the material being investigated.
The latest development has also brought attention to Salomey Awiti Bafoh, a 40-year-old nurse based in Techiman in the Bono East Region.
Bafoh was arrested and subsequently brought before an Adentan Circuit Court, where she was charged with abetment of crime, specifically in relation to the publication of false news. She pleaded not guilty and was remanded into police custody to assist with investigations. She is expected to return to court on September 30, 2026.
The Police allege that Bafoh assisted Kodua by helping to disseminate videos produced by the “Ghana Jollof” account. Investigators further allege that she recruited other individuals to redistribute the material across social media platforms.
According to the CID, forensic examination of mobile devices, including audio and video files and Mobile Money transaction records, forms part of the evidence being examined in the investigation. Police also allege that there were financial transactions between Kodua and Bafoh relating to the distribution of the videos.
The Police have said investigations are continuing to identify other individuals who may have participated in the redistribution of the content as well as persons suspected of providing financial support.
The emergence of the video has added public interest to the case, particularly following the Police’s decision to declare Kodua wanted.
However, the allegations remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings. Being declared wanted or accused of an offence does not by itself establish guilt, and the parties involved are entitled to due process under the law.
The Police have urged the public to exercise caution in their online activities and reminded social media users that publications or conduct that violate Ghanaian laws may attract criminal proceedings.
