President Mahama appoints Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle as Acting CEO of Petroleum Commission

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission of Ghana.

Her appointment takes effect on January 17, 2025.

This was stated in a letter signed by the Executive Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, and dated January 17, 2025.

Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle’s appointment was made in accordance with Article 195(1) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and Section 11(1) of the Petroleum Commission Act, 2011 (Act 821).

The appointment is pending the constitutionally required advice from the Board of the Petroleum Commission, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

The Petroleum Commission was established by an Act of Parliament, 2011 (Act 821) as a result of hydrocarbon discoveries in commercial quantities, to regulate and manage the utilization of petroleum resources and, coordinate the policies in the upstream petroleum sector.
