Pregnant woman shot dead in the stomach, two others injured in gun attack

A pregnant woman has lost her life, and two others have sustained gunshot injuries following a shooting incident by unknown assailants at Kukpalgu, a community in the Tatale-Sanguli District of the Northern Region, according to a myjoyonlin.com report.

The report said the victims were returning from a prayer session when gunmen opened fire on them, shooting the pregnant woman in the stomach to death.

The two survivors, who suffered varying degrees of injuries, were initially treated at an herbal clinic in Gbande before being referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for further care.

Medical sources say one of the victims sustained a gunshot wound to the hand, while the other was shot in the back, with the bullet exiting through the chest.

The report explained that the community members suspect the violence may be connected to growing tensions over recent political appointments.

Discontent has been brewing following the nomination of a non-Dagomba as District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, a decision that has angered sections of the Zabzugu community who had hoped for a local appointee.
