Popular Awka comedian, Aiza Nwosu, three others involved in accident, rushed to hospital

Popular Awka comic character and public information announcer Aiza Nwosu was on Friday morning involved in an accident.

The accident was said to have also involved three bystanders waiting to board buses at the popular Aroma junction.

Nwosu is popular around Awka, the Anambra State capital, where he drives around in his vans with multiple loudspeakers, playing loud music.

He sometimes parks his car by the roadside with loud music and takes time to dance to it.

He was driving towards the Government House from Aroma when his van ran into people waiting for buses at the junction.

An eyewitness said the crash was due to brake failure, adding the persons he knocked down, including a tricycle rider, had been rushed to a hospital.

When our correspondent arrived at the scene of the accident, officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Agency, ACTDA, were seen dismantling some of the music equipment attached to the vehicle, to avoid them being vandalized.

Onlookers at the scene declined to speak with journalists, but an ACTDA official who spoke simply said he could not explain how the accident happened.

“We just got here. We were in the office when we were called to move fast about this emergency. I cannot explain how it happened.

“We know that Aiza is alive and has been moved to hospital for treatment,” he said.

The road was littered with broken windshields from Aiza’s vehicle, and at the time of filling this story, the officials were making arrangements to tow the crashed vehicle to their office.
