Ejurahene warns public of fake Whatsapp account in his name

The Chief of Ejura in the Ashanti Region, Barima Osei Hwedie II, is warning the general public to disregard of fake social media pages purporting to be him and engaging in fraudulent activities.

 

According to the chief who double as the Protocol Director at the Office of the vice president of Ghana, some imposters have used her name, picture and other details to create a Whatsapp account with which they dupe people in the name of offering them non-existent jobs.

 

The Barimah Osei Hwedis II said his attention was drawn to some fraudulent activities by certain people using his name on social media platforms in an attempt to extort money from unsuspecting victims.

 

“It has come to my notice just this morning that certain unscrupulous persons are using fake whatsapp and Facebook accounts purporting to be me (Barima Osei Hwedie II)”.

 

“I am therefore warning the general public to be wary of such persons in order not to fall prey to these fraudsters”

 

The chief in an interview with OTEC News Kwame Agyenim Boateng on Monday August 29, 2022 cautioned against dealing with bogus websites and those people who impersonate him and cheat some gullible individuals after obtaining their personal credentials and data by fraudulent means.

 

He noted that, he has reported the matter to security agencies for a swift action to be taking.

 

He has however called on anyone using his name to defraud people to immediately desist from doing so.

Public officials in the country have become victims of fake accounts as imposters continue to use their identities on social media to defraud people under the guise of securing them jobs or other opportunities.
