The Ashanti Regional Police Command has assured residents of Ahafo Ano South West District that additional police personnel will be deployed to the area once adequate accommodation is provided for officers.
The assurance was given by the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Osei Akoto Arthur, during a working visit to the District Chief Executive, Abubakar Sedik. The engagement focused on security concerns and ways to strengthen cooperation between the Police Service and the District Assembly.
A major issue discussed during the meeting was the shortage of suitable accommodation for police officers in the district. The lack of accommodation has been identified as a challenge affecting the ability of the Police Service to increase its presence in some communities.
The District Assembly has plans to construct staff quarters to provide better accommodation for police personnel. According to the Regional Police Commander, completing the project would create the necessary conditions for the deployment of additional officers.
COP Osei Akoto Arthur therefore assured the District Chief Executive that more personnel would be assigned to Ahafo Ano South West once the accommodation project is completed.
The move is expected to strengthen security operations across the district and improve the ability of the police to respond to incidents and concerns raised by residents.
The need for additional police presence is particularly important in a district where communities are spread across a relatively large area.
