Police attacked, woman killed at Agbogbloshie

The Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu, has directed the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, to conduct an immediate investigation into the circumstances that led to the death of a lady, who is yet-to-be-identified, during an attack on a police team at Agbogbloshie on Tuesday, 4 September.

A team of police officers, acting on information that a robbery suspect, Nuhu Sule, was hiding at a ghetto at Agbogbloshie with items he had stolen during a robbery operation the previous night, were attacked by unknown assailants.

The team of police officers from the Accra Regional Police Headquarters were attacked when they retrieved the items believed to have been stolen by Nuhu Sule.

They called for reinforcement, leading to the arrest of 15 suspects believed to have masterminded the attack.

The suspects are currently in police custody pending further investigation, according to a statement signed by ACP David Eklu, Director General, Public Affairs.
