Peter Amewu reportedly arrested in over $2 million Sky Train project

The purported arrest of the former Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency comes amid ongoing investigations into the controversial deal, which was intended to introduce a modern urban rail transport system in Ghana but never materialised.

Reports indicate that the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government committed $2 million to the project, which has since been deemed unsuccessful.

Amewu, who played a significant role in overseeing the country’s railway sector, is now facing scrutiny over his involvement in the agreement and the circumstances surrounding the financial commitments made under the deal.

This latest development adds to growing concerns about accountability in government contracts and public infrastructure projects.

Meanwhile, National Security officials have yet to release further details on the charges or potential legal proceedings Peter Amewu may face.

GhanaWeb will provide further updates as investigations continue.
