Otukonor beats war drums

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otukonor, has started beating war drums ahead of the 2020 elections.

He stated that members of the NDC can fight and unleash violence better than the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Peter Otukonor therefore warned the NPP to prepare effectively and face the NDC during the 2020 elections.

Former President John Dramani Mahama, who recently issued similar threat, was reprimanded by a section of Ghanaians.

But Mr Otukonor, who was very angry, confirmed what Mr. Mahama said some few days ago.

“The NPP should be ready, yeah they should prepare,” the NDC executive gave the stern warning in an interview with Nhyira Fm in Kumasi on Monday.

“We have realized that the police, who are paid with the taxpayers’ money, cannot protect us so we shall prepare”.

According to him, the NPP sent criminals to cause mayhem during the by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

Mr. Otukonor said the NPP showed that they would adopt violence in 2020 polls during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

“The NDC can fight better than the NPP and they (NPP) are aware of this fact. But we did not fight at Ayawaso for the sake of peace.

“But the NPP should know that we shall prepare well for them. Self defence is permitted even in the Bible, and that is what we shall do.

“If you try to kill a cat and you fail, you should know what that cat will do to you,” Mr. Otukonor declared.

He condemned the unprovoked attacks on the NDC members in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, stressing that next time the NDC would prepare effectively.
