OSP to Charge Former Government Officials in GRA–SML Contract Probe

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced plans to press charges against several former government officials in connection with the ongoing investigation into the controversial contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML).
According to the OSP, the individuals to face prosecution include former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, Emmanuel Kofi Nti, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, and Kwadwo Damoah. These names surfaced following months of scrutiny surrounding the SML–GRA agreement, which has drawn public attention due to allegations of irregularities and possible financial misconduct.
The OSP’s decision to make the names public signals a renewed effort to promote transparency and accountability in Ghana’s public sector. Legal analysts believe this move indicates a decisive step toward addressing long-standing concerns about corruption and misuse of public funds.
The SML–GRA contract, initially signed to improve revenue monitoring and auditing, has been under investigation for allegedly breaching procurement procedures and lacking sufficient value for money. The OSP is expected to provide further details on the specific charges and evidence gathered in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, public interest groups have applauded the OSP’s action, urging the office to ensure that justice is served without political interference. The outcome of this case is expected to set an important precedent for governance and anti-corruption efforts in Ghana.
