Afia Kobi Nursing College CEO Whips Tafo Nhyiaeso Assemblyman With Court Action over Defamatory Comment
The Chief Executive Officer for Afia Kobi Serwaa Àmpem Nursing Training College Mr. Owusu King has threatened court action against Assemblyman for Tafo Nhyiaeso of the Ashanti region Hon Bashiru Gambo for making a defamatory comment against him and the institution.
The assembly man is alleged to have leveled allegation during his engagement with some media houses in Kumasi that authorities of the school have of late been directing the flow of the school’s liquid waste believed to be human excreta and solid waste into open drainage linking several households within the electoral area.
The allegation in question which assumed a viral circulation on most media platforms however did not go down well with the CEO of the accredited nursing school, defending that the claim by the assembly man carries no iota of truth but an attempt to run down his (proprietor) unquestionable reputation and that of the institution.
Mr. Owusu King who is currently in talks with his advocate to effect a legal action against Hon Bashiru Gambo, assemblyman for Tafo Nhyiaeso indicated that its never true that refuse deposited at the said spot as falsely claimed by the assembly man is caused by authorities or students of the school.
The said area according to the CEO is located close to a popular commercial area called “Moro market” where traders as usual carry out different business related activities.
“It is possible that business activities carried out in the area might have led to the indiscriminate disposal perhaps by the traders” he challenged.
He continued in his defense that “there is no way any of our students or authorities will dump refuse in that area because our school is strictly governed by sanitation regulations”. All refuse within the walls of the institution he noted are deposited in a bin and carried away by Zoom lion waste vans.
All liquid waste including human excreta are discharged into waste pits dugged within the school’s campus”.
In an exclusive dialogue with thepressradio.com, Mr. Owusu King said the status-quo of sanitation in the school is far more impressive than any other school within the area and therefore cannot be tagged with sanitation malpractices.
This school (Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem Nursing Training College) has a fully tiled 16-seater student lavatory, 17 bath rooms and a well sanitized environment.
LEGAL BATTLE
For defaming his personality and the school which bears the name of an iconic Queen of the Ashanti Kingdom, Mr. Owusu King stressed that he is determined to whip the assembly man with a huge court damage and will from there summon him before the King of the Ashanti Kingdom Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for the necessary disciplinary action.
POLITICAL INTERFERENCE
Mr. Owusu King in his statement said that he sees the move by the assemblyman as one of his (assemblyman) diabolic agenda to help secure and retain his position as the local government representative in the area in the next assembly elections.
Mr. Owusu King revealed that he (CEO) contested him in the previous elections and came close to unseat him at the declaration of the electoral results.
For Mr Owusu King, Hon Bashiru Gambo sees him as a great threat to his chances of electoral victory and has therefore resorted to foul means to tarnish my image.
” He (Hon Bashiru Gambo) has lost the confidence of the electorates in the area due to his incompetence and therefore wants to pollute the minds of the residents against me because he thinks that I may contest him the second time”.
