Baby dumped in bush at Ejura, rituals performed

Residents of Ejura-Kolimay in the Ashanti region were Thursday thrown into a state of shock when they discovered that a fetus had been aborted in a bush.

The unfortunate incident drew a huge crowd to the scene to witness the lifeless body of the baby.

A witness, Samuel Kwame Anokye, who narrated the scene to Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo, recounted that “I heard noise from two children who were going to farm in the morning. I rushed there and I saw a lifeless baby boy. I got close only to find out that someone had dropped a dead baby into the bush.”

According to Mr Anokye, the baby, must be about seven months when it was aborted by an unknown mother.

I personally called the police to convey the body but due to the situation the Police instructed that it be buried,” he said.

Traditional leaders of Ejura-Kolimay performed rituals to pave way for the burial of the lifeless baby.

Meanwhile, the Ejura Police Command has commenced an investigation into the matter while the residents of Ejura-Kolimay have launched ‘Operation Search for Pregnant Women’ to fish out the unknown mother.
