No staff layoffs over closure of two branches – StanChart

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana has denied reports it is laying off over 600 staff by June 2019 as it prepares to close down two branches.

Describing the report as “false and a misrepresentation of the facts,” StanChart in a statement said staff at the affected branches will be redeployed.

“The Bank is in the process of closing two of its branches namely Tudu and Westlands with a total headcount of twenty-seven (27). All stakeholders have been duly notified. As with all branch closures, we will aim at redeploying as many of the impacted employees as possible,” head of corporate affairs, brand and marketing Asiedua Addae said in the statement.
