Nigel Gaisie Reacts to Agradaa’s 15-Year Prison Sentence with Hard Labour

Prophet Nigel Gaisie has spoken out following the sentencing of Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, who was handed a 15-year prison sentence with hard labour after being found guilty on multiple counts of fraud.
The controversial televangelist was convicted by an Accra Circuit Court on three counts relating to defrauding members of the public under false pretences. Her sentencing has since sparked a wide public reaction, with several church leaders, including Nigel Gaisie, sharing their thoughts.
In a statement, Prophet Gaisie described the verdict as a necessary wake-up call for the Christian community, stressing that no one is above the law — not even those who claim to operate under spiritual authority.
“The judgment is a reminder that the church must not be used as a platform for deception or manipulation. As servants of God, we are accountable both to Heaven and to the laws of this land,” Gaisie noted.
He also urged Ghanaians to exercise discernment in choosing spiritual leaders, emphasizing that faith should be built on truth and integrity, not on flashy promises or miraculous claims.
Agradaa’s sentencing has reignited public debate about the regulation of religious activities in Ghana, with many calling for stricter oversight of self-proclaimed prophets and evangelists who solicit money from followers under dubious circumstances.
The court’s decision is being viewed as a landmark ruling in Ghana’s ongoing efforts to protect the public from religious exploitation and to uphold justice within faith-based institutions.
