How a tweet by Musk almost led to my death – Nigerian-American actor Ayo Edebiri recounts
Nigerian-American actress, Ayo Edebiri has described the incident that happened after a post on X by billionaire businessman, Elon Musk.
According to her, she got “insane death threats” after Musk amplified the rumors that she was considered as a replacement for Johnny Depp in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise.
She explained that she got numerous death threats and racial slurs after Musk shared a fake report in February 2024 claiming she was being considered by Disney.
The X owner reacted to the report by writing: “Disney sucks.”
Edebiri believes that Musk’s reaction gave the fake report publicity, which led to her getting death threats and racial slurs.
On her Instagram story, she wrote, “Just remembering when I got some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs of my life (idk if it’s the #1 moment, but for sure top 3) for a fake reboot of a movie I had never even heard of because of this man. LMAO. So not only is he [Elon Musk] double Sieg Heil-ing fascist, he’s an idiot but anyway.”
