To meet the ever growing demand, of the Port’s clientele, the Port of Takoradi embarked on a major expansion and investment program to transform the port’s capacity, facilities and operations.

The expansion works are geared towards making the Port of Takoradi a world class port and dominant oil and gas hub of the West African sub-region.

The Port achieved yet another milestone, by completing an entire 800m quay wall facility at the port. The new quay wall has a draft of -16m and constructed to cater for the world’s biggest vessels of up to 250m length.

It is also capable of receiving cargo of up to 120,000 tons.

Meanwhile, works on a modern state of the art automated oil jetty at the Port of Takoradi is steadily progressing.

The automated oil jetty which is 70% complete has 4 of 5 loading arms installed and it is expected to conduct its first discharge in October, 2019.

The jetty when fully completed will possess a 300m length and -14m depth which would be able to accommodate bigger vessels and would allow large volumes of petroleum products to be discharged.

The previous jetty at the old port was only 120m at -8.4 depth.
