Coordinator for No Business As Usual Project Madam Esther Daley Matey has made a passionate appeal to government to implement policies that will offer flexible access for women to fill up leadership positions in the country.

She underlined that policies in the likes of Affirmative Action Law should be effected by government so that at least 40 percent of leadership roles within the various public and private agencies are handled by women.

Madam Esther Matey premised her call on the worrying status quo which is characterised by the low number of women playing key roles in the country even in the house of parliament.

She stated in an exclusive dialogue with this journalist that the worrying gender situation should provoke authorities to create more avenues for women to function as done to the opposite gender (men).

Speaking on the sidelines at NBU “Connected Thinking 4.0) event which was held coincidentally with the celebration of International Women’s day under the theme; ” Balance for Better, Creating a Space for Women’s Involvement”,* she threw a strong challenge to authority bearers to ensure that all barriers of discrimination restraining citizens of the feminine gender from filling up sensitive positions in the country are eliminated.

According to her women should not be sidelined but should be given equal opportunities as done to men.

CONNECTED THINKING 4.0

The event which was held at the hub of the Project located at Asokore Mampong sought to empower women within the municipality by whipping up their interest on the need to contribute their quota vis-a-vis the development of their various communities.

Participants were empowered with knowledge to understand the essence of taking up leadership positions and how they can use the position to impact positively on society.

This however forms part of the efforts of facilitators of NBU Project towards ensuring that 60 percent of women out of the 500 targeted youth in the municipality are empowered.

Connected thinking 4.0 event witnessed a pomp attendance of female youth within and beyond the municipality.
