It appears that the Otumfuo’s Asamponghene, Oheneba Kwadwo Aforduor, who was gruesomely murdered on Sunday, was killed in Kumasi and his body dumped on the outskirts of faraway Ejura, new reports emerging indicates.

According to a source, a prospective witness in the case has told the police that the prominent chief left the house on Sunday in Kumasi and said he was going visit someone in one of the suburbs also in Kumasi and within a few hours, news came in, that his body has been found in Ejura.

The blood stains found in the Land cruiser vehicle on Sunday evening where the chief lied motionless was not fresh, suggesting the body had been dumped there.

The source said the body was concealed in between the front and the back seats of the car and added that it could have been difficult for anybody including the police to detect it at a check point if indeed he was killed in Kumasi and transported to Ejura.

Furthermore, there are reports that the killers tried to set the chief and his car on fire to delete evidence but the fire was not extensive.

The Asamponghene

The late Asamponghene, traditionally, renders some crucial services to the occupant of the Golden Stool, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. He was also the owner of a popular restaurant and pub, the Golden Eye, formerly known as X5.

Oheneba Aforduor was found dead in his black Land cruiser vehicle on the outskirts of Ejura on Sunday evening. It was initially believed that he lost his life during a fatal accident but investigations by the police later proved otherwise.

The Ashanti Regional Police Communications Director, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, in a press statement, did not rule out a possible murder in the chief’s death and appealed to the public to assist the police with information to help arrest the killers.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command, who are not leaving any stone unturned in their resolve to apprehend the killers to face the law, managed to arrest about four people for questioning on Sunday, few hours after the chief’s body had been found.

Otumfuo Not Briefed

Meanwhile, DAILY GUIDE gathered that the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has not, traditionally, been informed about the death of the late Asamponghene. The Asante Monarch was expected to travel abroad on Tuesday and he is expected to be briefed about the death when he returns.
