Mugabe Maase blasts government for sidelining pro-NDC journalists

He expressed frustration that the government is rewarding journalists from other media outlets who, in his view, did little to advance the party’s agenda during the 2024 elections.

Speaking on his show on TV XYZ in a viral video shared on social media, Mugabe stated that many pro-NDC journalists who worked tirelessly to ensure the party’s victory have been unfairly neglected by the government.

“Doesn’t Bobie Ansah deserve an appointment in Mahama’s government? When we were working for the party, where were the staff of Joy FM and TV3 who have now been given appointments? Does the government remember the workers of Radio Gold? You’re appointing people from Multimedia and TV3, while staff from Radio Gold, Accra FM, and the likes of Bobie Ansah have been ignored. People are already complaining that just a few months into power, you are refusing to pick calls. I don’t want to use certain words.

“When you needed power, you called on me, Mugabe, at 1 a.m. to go to Kumasi, Tamale, and Winneba. During the launch of the NDC manifesto in Winneba, I had to sleep on the bare floor, which affected my health, and I had to rush back to Accra, missing the programme. You’ve ignored your foot soldiers and grassroots. How can a journalist from XYZ attend a government programme and be told he wasn’t invited? I will shake the foundation without fear or favour. Where were those people?

“The president, in his appointments, has forgotten about Samuel Sarpong, how is that possible? You only hear the names of people who never toiled for the party being appointed into government. Where are those who laboured for the party’s victory? I’m not trying to build a house or buy land. I don’t envy anyone, but you people should do the right thing. About 15 journalists have been appointed, yet the likes of Bobie Ansah have been sidelined. You’ve forgotten about journalists at Accra FM, Ahotor FM, Class FM.”

A list of notable journalists appointed to key roles under the Mahama administration recently went viral.
