‘Mr. Logic has threatened my life’ – Canadian musician claims

After being accused of defrauding an American of $21,000 and GH¢48,000 in June 2024, Christopher Nelson, popularly known as Mr. Logic, is now facing additional allegations of threats against his former artiste.

Monica Spence, a Canadian musician signed to Mr. Logic’s record label, has accused him of defrauding her and threatening her life if she steps foot in Ghana.

In a video circulating on social media, Monica Spence shared an audio recording in which Mr. Logic was allegedly heard issuing a threat to her.

“Don’t step foot in Ghana. If you do…! I am telling you the truth,” he allegedly said.

These allegations come after Monica Spence claimed that Mr. Logic, who also served as her manager, defrauded her under the guise of promoting her music career.

“I just kept sending him money. Usually, when you get signed, the label takes care of finances and expenses. But with his company, which was more of a management company, I had to pay for everything, including music videos and radio promotion,” she explained.

She also recounted a project in South Africa that worsened her financial situation.

“Mr. Logic told me we needed to do a project in South Africa. I went there for a month and started running out of money, but he assured me not to worry. A whole month later, after dealing with his court issues, he joined me in South Africa. It got worse when he arrived because he insisted on staying in the same Airbnb with me. All he did was watch Netflix and eat all day.

“I told him I couldn’t afford the Airbnb anymore and moved to a motel, expecting him to cover the bills. However, he couldn’t even pay for a week and complained about the expenses. He eventually abandoned me at the motel and moved on with an Indian woman,” she revealed.

Monica also detailed an alleged fraud involving an apartment Mr. Logic rented on her behalf.

“He told me the landlord wanted me and my family out of the house I had rented and paid for two years upfront. He claimed the landlord needed the house for his son. When I asked for a refund, he said the landlord wouldn’t refund me. Later, I discovered it was all lies. The landlord told me Mr. Logic never paid the rent,” she recounted.

Additionally, she alleged that Mr. Logic defrauded her over a Ghanaian work permit.

“He said my work permit had expired, even though I paid for three years. When I confronted him, he dismissed me, saying I shouldn’t tell him what to do. He kept threatening to block me. I was confused because I was the one financing his life,” she added.

However, Mr. Logic, in an interview with GhanaWeb’s Joseph Henry Mensah, has denied the claims made by the musician.

According to him, he never defrauded her, and her allegations are driven by bitterness.

“I haven’t defrauded her. She is just bitter because I parted ways with her. She is the same person who initially implicated me in the first issue and later became my witness. The voice note is a five-month-old conversation we had regarding an issue where she threatened me in an earlier conversation, and I responded by threatening her in defense, simply to deter her,” he told GhanaWeb.
