MP for Yapei-Kusawgu donates 10 motobikes to Central Gonja health directorate

The Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu constituency, Hon John Abdulai Jinapor has donated ten (10) motorbikes to the Central Gonja Health Directorate to enhance the delivery of quality health care in the constituency.

The motorbikes which are expected to be distributed to some Community Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound along the Black Volta, is aimed at assisting health personnel to deliver better health care to residents in the district.

Presenting the motorbikes, Hon Jinapor said that the delivery of quality health services to the people has always been a priority. According to him, some communities within the constituency are Hard to reach and therefore, the motorbikes would serve as a means of reaching out to those communities to attend to their health needs.

He also hinted that he is aware of the several challenges the country is facing in the delivery of health services especially in Rural communities. However, Hon Jinapor noted that his office would collaborate with the Directorate and other agencies within the district to ensure that the situation is improved.

He recounted the contribution of Former President Mahama in making the necessary arrangement for the construction of the Buipe District Hospital and Accident centre that will cater for accident cases along the Tamale-Kintampo road.

It will be recalled that late last year, Hon Jinapor donated Hospital beds to Fufulso, Kusawgu and Jabalpe Health centres and also extended electricity to Zanzugu CHPS compound.

Receiving the motorbikes on behalf the district, the director of health services for Central Gonja District, Mr Daniel Duubik said the Central Gonja District is one of the biggest districts in the Savannah region with about 24 health facilities rendering health services to over 120,000 inhabitants.

Mr Duubik said the service is still challenged with transportation despite efforts by successive governments and development partners to mitigate this challenge.

He said several factors account for those challenges. Among the challenges mentioned by the health director include bad road network resulting in frequent breakdown and poor maintenance culture.

Mr Duubik further went on to thank the member of Parliament and added that the support from the honorable MP has come at an opportune time to augment the health system in terms of its transportation needs in the district at the same time bring health services closer (especially at the CHPS level) to the door steps of the people of the Central Gonja District.
