Minority to summon EC boss over referendum

The Minority in parliament wants the chairperson of the EC summoned over the upcoming referendum.

Speaking during the presentation of the business statement of the House, Tamale Central MP and ranking member on the Committee on Constitutional, legal and parliamentary Affairs, Inusah Fuseini demanded that the EC must brief the house regarding the exercise.

The Minority is also fuming over unavailability of CVs of three Appeal court judges appointed to the Supreme Court, to members of the appointment Committee.

The president announced the appointment of Justice Lovelace Johnson, Justice Mariama Owusu and Justice Getrude Torkornoo to the apex court from the Court of Appeal.

Minority whip and MP for Asawase, Muntaka Mubarak, said the development will affect the work of the committee since they do not have ample time to properly peruse their CVs.

But the deputy majority whip Mathew Nyimdam said the CVs have been submitted to the leadership and the committee will receive same by close of the day.
