Man stuck with body three days after killing his wife

Police in Kyegegwa District have arrested a 47-year-old man found stuck with the body of his 23-year-old wife who he allegedly killed.

The Rwenzori West police spokesperson Vincent Twesige identified the deceased as Twikirize Ronious, a resident of the same district who was reportedly killed at night on November 11 as the duo had a domestic fight.

“It’s alleged that at around midnight, the suspect was heard by his neighbors fighting and beating his wife Twikirize with whom he was only sleeping with in a rented house at Kayembe-Bujunjura trading center,” Twesige said.

Police indicate that on November 12, neighbors saw the couple’s house closed and thought the two had gone farming despite their home staying shut all day.

With the house still closed, concerned neighbors and local leaders November 13 telephoned the suspect who deceived them that he was with Twikirize in the garden.

“Then on November 14, the deceased’s sister called on the number of her in-law who declined to answer until November 15 when the suspect confessed to killing his wife adding that he was in the house with the body,” police explained on Tuesday.

The deceased’s sister reported to village authorities who alerted Kazinga police post.
Upon breaking into the house, police say, the suspect who poisoned himself was found sleeping on the same bed with the woman’s corpse.
