Man, 55, charged for allegedly defiling minor
A 55-year-old plumber has been dragged to the Gender and Domestic Violence Court for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl.
William Ashley has however denied the charge of defilement and has been admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢ 50,000 with two sureties. He is to report to the police once every week.
Narrating the facts of the case, Detective Chief Inspector Opoku Aniagyei told the court that the complainant is the victim’s mother while Ashley is a plumber staying in the same house with them at Lartebiokorshie.
On January 27, 2024, Det. C/Insp. Aniagyei said the accused person went together with the victim to Tema to do some work for his aunty who had returned from overseas.
The victim and the accused person he said returned to Lartebiokorshie at about 5 p.m. the same day. “On her arrival home, the victim informed the complainant that the accused person had had sexual intercourse with her in a room while in Tema,” the prosecutor said.
On hearing this information, the prosecutor said the complainant reported the matter to the Dansoman Police DOVVSU for further investigation.
Police investigation
The prosecutor said the victim in her statement to the police stated that while in Tema in a certain house, she (the victim) told the accused person that she wanted to attend to the call of nature.
The victim, he said, further stated that the accused person took her to a small room and removed her panties. “The accused person then also undressed and started rubbing his penis on the victim’s vagina with saliva.
“The victim stated that the accused person then inserted his penis into her vagina and had sexual intercourse with her,” the prosecutor told the court.
During the sexual intercourse, Det. C/Insp. Aniagyei told the court that the victim said she felt severe pain in her vagina and complained to the accused person, but he paid no attention to her.
“The victim said the accused person later removed his penis from her vagina and she saw a whitish substance like porridge in the palm of the accused person.
“The accused person later dressed up and went out to wash his hands. The victim also wore her panties,” he added.
The prosecutor said later that same day when the accused person and the victim returned to Lartebiokorshie at about 5 p.m., the victim then informed the complainant about her ordeal.
“A police medical report form was issued to the complainant to send the victim to hospital for examination, treatment and a report submitted on her,” he said.
The accused person, the prosecutor said was later arrested and in his caution statement to the police, the accused person denied the offence adding:
“After police investigations, the accused person was charged with the offence and put before this honourable court”.
