The Ofaakor Police Command in the Central Region has arrested a 24-year-old man, Michael Asamoah, aka Ghazah, for kidnapping two kids aged 5 and 7 at Congo-Villa, a suburb of Kasoa.

The arrest was made at Prampram in the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region.

According to the police, the alleged kidnapper is a family friend who claimed that he was taking the kids to a barber shop nearby but bolted with the innocent victims to Prampram.

The Ofaakor District Police Commander, DSP Darkey, told Atinka News that the kidnapper later demanded GHC3000 as ransom. The suspect released one of the children (5 –year- old) after receiving GHC500.

Asamoah was later given GHC700 to release the second victim (7-year old) which he agreed.

However, the 7-year old boy, upon his release, directed the police to a lady whom the suspect took them to.
