Level 300 UMaT student allegedly poisoned to death a few days after securing a scholarship abroad

A third-year student, Davis Frimpong Manso, from the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Takoradi campus, has reportedly passed away under tragic circumstances.

According to multiple social media reports, the late student allegedly consumed poisoned food, which resulted in his death a few hours later.

Numerous social media accounts, accompanied by videos and bereavement messages, suggest that Davis had been awarded a scholarship to study abroad just days before his passing.

Some reports claim that the poisoned food was shared with his roommate, who has since gone missing.

A social media user wrote, “A 3rd-year Logistics and Transport student has been poisoned to death. The incident happened yesterday after he had secured a scholarship to the UK. On the night of the incident, he shared a meal with his roommate, who left afterward.

“Since then, the roommate has not been seen, and his phone cannot be reached. Davis was an Obuasi boy, residing in Pomposo. Since his parents lack the resources to initiate a police investigation, they are left crying and demanding justice for their son.”

Another user added, “A 3rd-year UMaT Logistics and Transport student (Takoradi campus) has been poisoned to death after securing a scholarship to the UK. His roommate was the last person he ate with, and the roommate has since disappeared!”

Tributes have poured in online for Davis Frimpong Manso, with one user stating, “Davis Frimpong Manso, a Level 300 Logistics and Transport student of UMaT, has passed on. Our condolences to the family.”

The incident has sparked widespread discussions, with some highlighting the tragedy of Davis’s death and others expressing concern over the missing roommate, who remains unreachable.
