Kumasi: Armed Soldiers, Police chase out OTEC FM from Central Market (Video)
The sudden arrival of Armed Soldiers and Policemen this morning brought to an abrupt end a live broadcast by a Kumasi Based OTEC FM of activities regarding the allocation of new shops to traders at the Kejetia market.
The live broadcast by Otec FM was also scheduled to coincide with a Press conference by some of the traders at the Central Market.
Staff of Otec FM was however forced to dismantle their equipment in record time when a Police /military team arrived at the scene to stop the planned activities.
Organizers of the Press conference also had to “disappear” for their own safety.
Some of the organisers who spoke to otecfmghana.com expressed disappointment at the approach adopted by city authorities to silence them.
Otecfmghana.com is reliably informed that the Ashanti Regional Minister has asked to meet the traders today at 2pm whiles GUTA is also scheduled to meet them at midday.
The traders say they are ready to sit down and agree on more acceptable financial terms than what is currently stated in their tenancy agreement.
